THE Port Adelaide Football Club began its remarkable journey at Buck’s Flat at Glanville, South Australia, on 24 May 1870.

At that time photography was in its infancy.

As the Port Adelaide Football Club grew over the ensuing decades, so too did photography, from grainy black and white posed images through to the brilliant, detailed, colour action shots we see today.

This book is a tribute to the 140 year history of our great club and to the photographers who have captured that history and its important moments, in all their guises.

Photography has a capacity to capture a moment in time like no other medium.

It is not a publication that just records the club’s greats and our iconic moments of celebration. It is a book that also remembers the painful moments the club has endured, as well as paying tribute to you, the fans, who have lined the terraces and unconditionally supported the club throughout its history.

We hope you enjoy this unique pictorial history of our club - a history which encompasses one of the game’s most successful journeys, Since 1870.
