SYDNEY Swans spearhead Barry Hall is highly unlikely to come straight back into the senior team for next week’s must-win clash with Carlton, according to coach Paul Roos.

Fresh from watching his team go down to another top-four contender in Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday, Roos was posed the question of whether Hall would be a likely starter against the Blues at Telstra Dome next Sunday.

“I wouldn’t have thought so,” Roos said.

“I mean it consumed Monday and Tuesday but since then I haven’t really thought too much about it.”

Hall has now served his one-match ban from the AFL Tribunal.

However early last week the Swans also suspended the burly forward for an indefinite period after club psychologist Grant Brecht deemed him not in the right mental state to be playing AFL football.

The Swans coach said the star forward also has to satisfy the club psychologist, although even then it would not be a case of him walking into the side.

“I think that’s the first step, yeah,” he said.

“Then after that I think it’ll be a collective decision as to what we do.

“Barry was away for the weekend and we’ll catch up with him early next week.”

Roos said he was pleased the 31-year-old had responded positively after the club sanction by attending training.

“I think it was important for Hally to be at the club (last week),” he said.

“Probably a few people had said we’d cut him loose or whatever. Well that couldn’t have been further from the truth.

“That was more of a statement from him to say ‘look, we’re all in this together’ and as a playing group and as a coaching group we were really pleased to see him down at training.”
