DUAL premiership player Robert Copeland has been delisted from the Brisbane Lions after an out-of-favour eighth season with the club.

Copeland, 27, becomes the latest Lion to be cut after the football's department's list management and review process.

The versatile Copeland has been unable to hold a consistent spot in the senior side this season, and has played just 13 games in Lions' colours.

He leaves the game having played 143 matches and kicked 39 goals, and has premiership medals from the Lions' 2001 and 2003 triumphs.

Copeland was the club's most improved player in 2004 and was recognised last season as the most professional player. He was also a two-time representative in the Queensland Team of the Year.

The Lions have also announced they will not offer 2006 draftee Chris Schmidt another contract.

The 19-year-old South Australian played two senior matches since coming across from his West Adelaide nearly two years ago.

Copeland and Schmidt join Wayde Mills and Haydn Kiel as players to fall victim to the Lions' end of season clean-out, with the latter duo being advised of their delisting earlier in the week.

Mills, 21, played 16 senior games with the Lions since being drafted in 2005, while Kiel, 20, has been a rookie for the past two years.

With new coach Michael Voss at the reins, club stalwart Marcus Ashcroft and Hawthorn premiership player Paul Hudson were also given their marching orders in recent weeks.

Ashcroft, a 318-game veteran and three-time premiership player, was the club's football operations manager, but a promotion for former Collingwood football manager Graeme (Gubby) Allan meant that role was axed.

Hudson was an assistant coach and marshaling the Suncoast lions side in the QAFL was among his major duties.
