HAWTHORN forward and Coleman medal favourite Lance Franklin heads the nominations for the 2008 Deadly Awards.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander awards recognise excellence among indigenous sports people, artists and educators.

Franklin, who has booted 91 goals this season, is joined by Port Adelaide's Shaun Burgoyne, dual Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes from the Swans and Eagle David Wirrpanda as nominees for the most outstanding achievement in AFL award.

Other sporting categories featured in the awards include most promising new talent in sport, outstanding achievement in NRL, female sportsperson of the year, and male sportsperson of the year.

The Deadly Awards take place on October 9 at the Sydney Opera House.
