Sunday 9 August
Frankston Park at 2.00pm
The Box Hill Hawks irresistible in the dying stages with a late surge came away with another victory against the Coburg Tigers last weekend.
Sam Iles placed through the winning goal with two seconds left keeping the Hawks top-four hopes alive.
Winning in such style was pleasing showing the Hawks great composure under pressure, fight to the death mentality and their constant hunger for victory.
Meanwhile Frankston after leading at half-time just fell short to Port Melbourne by 19 points.
A thirty point half-time lead wasn’t enough with an electrifying display by Port Melbourne who had fifteen scoring shots in the third term to hit the lead and stay in control for the rest for the clash.
The Dolphins in 12th position at 2-12 have struggled throughout the season but have had good victories against both Werribee Tigers and cell-dwellers Bendigo.
With victory this weekend and results going the Hawks way a possible top-four position is for the taking.
Long and Narrow, Frankston Park can often prove a difficult ground for opposition sides but the Hawks will look upon their earlier thumping of the Dolphins with encouragement.
Statistically, Box Hill last won ten matches or more under Andy Collins in 2004.
With a five year drought in reaching double figures in victories, a win this weekend would be a thoroughly deserved achievement for the Hawks.
Last time these two sides met in Round 7 2009, Box Hill won by 100 points.
