The South Australian Football Commission today announced changes to the Board of the Adelaide Football Club, including the Board’s expansion from seven to nine directors and the appointment of the Board’s first female director.

NIGEL SMART
Nigel Smart has been re-appointed to the Board for a three-year term.

DEBORAH MILLER
Acuere CEO Deborah Miller has been invited to join the Board for a three-year term. Deborah has a strong background in business development, marketing, sales and strategic planning. She has been involved in netball as a past State player and National League Coach and currently serves as a Netball SA board member.

GREG MOULTON
Brock Harcourts CEO Greg Moulton was also appointed for a three-year term. Mr Moulton has led Brock Harcourts for seven years, during which time the real estate company has achieved top industry status in terms of profile and market share.

BOB FOORD
Proud Australia Group of Companies chairman Bob Foord has been appointed to the Board for a two-year term. The Proud Australia Group of Companies has interests in travel, tourism, property development, media production and sales. Bob also serves as the SA Tourism Commission chairman.

SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker welcomed the new and re-appointed members of the Adelaide Football Club Board and acknowledged retiring Board Member Alan Sheppard’s 15 years of service to the Board and Club.

“The Board’s expansion provides the Adelaide Football Club with additional specialist knowledge and experience as the Club faces what will be a period of significant opportunity and change,” Mr Whicker said.

“As it moves towards its 20th anniversary in March next year, the Adelaide Football Club continues to evolve as a club committed to strong supporter relationships, growth and success.

“In particular, Deborah’s appointment marks the first time the Adelaide Football Club Board has had female representation - an important first, given more than 45 per cent of the Adelaide Football Club’s members are women.

“She, Greg, Bob and Nigel will bring a broad range of specialist knowledge to the Board as it prepares for next season and beyond.”

Adelaide Football Club Chairman Rob Chapman also welcomed an expansion to the Board.

“As most people know, we are confronted with a number of challenges at present and adding to the Board’s breadth of experience and reach is a positive move,” Mr Chapman said.

“We welcome Deb, as our first female director, Greg and Bob - all of whom we are certain will make important contributions to the Club.

“We’re also delighted that Nigel continues, as he is already a critical contributor to our Club.”
