WEST Coast midfielder Patrick McGinnity is set to miss his club's round one clash with the Western Bulldogs after being offered a one-match ban by the Match Review Panel.

McGinnity can accept the sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Fremantle's Danyle Pearce in the NAB Challenge match-up at Arena Joondalup last Sunday night.

Due to his poor record, McGinnity cannot have his penalty reduced. However, if he chooses to dispute the charge he is looking at two matches on the sidelines.

Gold Coast youngster Timmy Sumner can accept a reprimand with an early plea, after he was charged with engaging in rough conduct.

Sumner made contact with the head of Brisbane Lions opponent Tom Rockliff when attempting to shepherd in the game in Townsville on Sunday.

If he chooses to accept his reprimand, Sumner will have 93.75 carry-over points added towards his future record.

Meanwhile, St Kilda's David Armitage has opted to challenge his fine for making contact with an umpire. Armitage was charged with making "reckless" contact with umpire Andrew Mitchell during the second quarter of last Wednesday's game against the Western Bulldogs.

If he is found guilty of the charge, he will be fined $2600.

Hawthorn's Mitch Hallahan has also been handed a fine for making contact with an umpire. The young Hawk has been charged with making "negligent" contact and will be $900 out of pocket if he decides to accept his early plea.

One further incident between Docker Tendai Mzungu and Eagle Murray Newman was assessed, but the MRP decided Mzungu had no realistic alternative to contest the ball and the charge was dismissed.

As in previous years, players suspended in the NAB Challenge series serve their penalties during the home and away season.
