WEST Coast coach John Worsfold says two bruising September clashes will not hinder the Eagles' chances of progressing through to the 2011 Grand Final as the team prepares for Saturday's preliminary final against Geelong at the MCG.
Worsfold will have a full-strength team to choose from, with midfielder Matt Rosa set to train with the main group on Wednesday and mount a late charge at selection.
Beau Waters (back), Eric Mackenzie (foot), Mark LeCras (ankle) and Josh Kennedy (eye) have all been cleared of injury following last Saturday night's brutal semi-final against Carlton, leaving Rosa as the club's main selection dilemma this week.
The 24-year-old has not played at any level for six weeks after damaging the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Richmond in round 20, but Worsfold said his season remained alive.
"He's another one tracking really well," Worsfold said from Patersons Stadium on Wednesday. "He will do today's full session with a view to put his hand up and say he's available for selection.
"There's some element of risk (in selecting him) and that's really just going to be around not having played, (but) there won't be any element of risk if he gets through his fitness regime.
"[We'll weigh up] his importance to the side and whether we think his touch is good enough coming in first up, which I personally would be confident it would be."
West Coast launched its finals campaign with a 20-point loss to reigning premier Collingwood at the MCG, and Worsfold said his young players had learned a lot this September after holding off Carlton last Saturday night to notch the club's first finals win since the 2006 premiership.
"The younger players really have enjoyed two big games against Collingwood and Carlton, two really good finals games," the coach said.
"They really matched it with those teams, so we've played in two big pressure games, one in front of an MCG Collingwood crowd and the other one in front of a home crowd.
"Those experiences have been great for the guys who haven't had that before.
"I think there's certainly a lot of value to be taken out of playing two weeks ago against Collingwood at the 'G."
Premiership quartet Darren Glass, Dean Cox, Andrew Embley and Daniel Kerr were invaluable against the Blues, with Kerr highly influential in the midfield with 27 disposals.
Worsfold said his star onballer, who has missed eight games this season through injury, had pulled up well and the club would "do what we have to with him" on the track this week.
"Today (Wednesday) is going to be a very light session, so there's quite a few boys that will only do part of todays session, he said.
"They'll do some running as they did last week prior to it, and Daniel will be one of those.
"Obviously Daniel Kerr is at the elite level of stoppage play and it was great to have him out there for that game on the weekend.
"That doesn't guarantee us anything this week, but at least we go in with our No.1 midfield in tact."
