This year we invested heavily in our membership department spending over $500k to put in place a larger call centre, new customer service software and increased staff which was well received to the point that membership grew to a record 46,327 members this year.
No Anzac Day home game and several low drawing interstate home games at the MCG meant that gate receipts were down $700k on last year. The $900k incremental revenue from the new MCG agreement that relates to the 2009 games has not been acknowledged in this year’s financial results but will be rolled in to next year’s results.
Our corporate sales and merchandise teams did an amazing job to grow their profits year on year in challenging economic circumstances.
Collingwood CEO, Gary Pert said “while this year’s profit is down on recent years, the club makes no apology for continuing to invest in the two key drivers of our club which are our members and our football department.”
Note: The Collingwood Annual General Meeting will be held on 16 December 2009 at 6.30pm in the Olympic Room at the MCG.
