All players and staff were sent home from training on Tuesday as the city of Brisbane was put on flood alert.
Training resumed today after it was assessed that all players and staff were able to reach the venue safely in the wake of the Queensland Flood Crisis.
General Manager of Football Operations Dean Warren said that the training venue had been thoroughly assessed prior to training.
“The safety of the venue, and access to the venue, has been monitored closely. If any of our players and staff had have been affected, the first priority would have been to make sure their families and houses were safe,” Warren said.
“Our training woes are trivial compared to what other people are going through in south-east Queensland. However, we happened to be fortunate that there was a break in the weather and the water did not reach the predicted levels so we were able to come back to Coorparoo.”
“Our thoughts are with those in south-east Queensland who have not been so lucky and who have a big job ahead of them to clean up and rebuild what they’ve lost.”
The Club’s Gabba operations will remain closed today with an exact return date yet to be advised.
The Club has also opened discussions with the AFL to determine the best and most appropriate way it can assist in the clean-up and recovery efforts on the flood affected regions of Queensland.
