Collingwood defender Alan Toovey said the side is already thinking about next week’s replay after the end to Saturday’s grand final.
The 23-year-old was extremely poised in the rooms after the match considering the circumstances.
“The first thing we are doing is moving away from thinking about the draw to thinking about next Saturday,” Toovey told CTV in the MCG rooms after the draw.
“I know we had the draw during the year, which was a strange feeling, but to have it in a grand final and to play again next week, I thought it was never going to happen.”??
Toovey was out on the ground during the final seconds of the match and was aware of likelihood of the draw.
“I didn’t know how long was left in the game but it felt like a long time.”
While the build up the next week’s replay will not be as excessive as what occurred in the first week, Toovey and the playing group understand they will go through similar preparations to the ones experienced over the last six days.
“For the week ahead it’s the normal routine. We get to do all the preparation stuff again. It’s pretty weird in here at the moment.
“Everyone assumed we were playing again next week. I would have rather finished with five minutes each way.”
