Michael Johnson is a Round 10 nominee for the 2008 AFL Army Award.

The AFL Army Award recognises match day acts which demonstrate courage, initiative and teamwork.

Michael received his nomination for a desperate smother to prevent a possible goal to Port Adelaide’s Michael Wilson in the third quarter of Fremantle’s clash against the Power on Sunday.

The AFL Army Award aims to reward the one percent style acts such as game breaking smothers, tackles and shepherds. Following each round, the three most influential acts are posted on afl.com.au and fans can log on and vote to determine the best act for the round just played.

At the end of the home and away season, the AFL All Australian Selection Committee will shortlist the 22 weekly winning acts to six nominations which will then be voted on by the public via afl.com.au. The All Australian selection committee will then endorse the winner.

The 2008 AFL Army Award winner will receive a $10,000 Travel Voucher, Trophy and Army Experience. The award will be officially presented at the 2008 Coca-Cola All Australian presentation dinner.
