PORT Adelaide Football Club players and coaching staff are currently on a four day training and recreation camp on the Gold Coast.

The camp will combine morning fitness sessions with afternoon rest and recreation.

The camp is designed to provide a break for the players and a different environment to the usual preseason training routine at Alberton, which has been underway for six weeks.

Power Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde says the camp will provide a chance for players to recharge their batteries after a solid start to the preseason.

“Unlike previous camps this one will not be a torturous conditioning exercise,” Rohde said. “This is about having a break from our routine and getting together, but with some different fitness work added in to make sure we’re still on top of that.

“It’s also a timely opportunity for the group to get to know the younger players and new recruits away from daily training.”

Players will return to normal training at Alberton on Thursday morning and continue through to December 22. Players have contributed part of the cost of the camp.

Players will be training from 10am on Monday morning at Northcliffe Beach (Northcliffe Surf Club).
