> Watch Wellingham, Clarke and Brown assume teaching responsibilities

> Watch the players conduct several training drills in the gym

Collingwood players went back to school on Tuesday 27 May visiting various schools in the greater Melbourne region to promote the game to primary and high school students.

Collingwoodfc.com.au followed Marty Clarke, Nathan Brown and Sharrod Wellingham who visited Yeshivah College in the afternoon.

The three Magpies took control of the school’s gym and held a clinic with the year seven students.  Nathan Brown instructed the boys on the finer points of the handball while Marty Clarke and Sharrod Wellingham conducted kicking and marking drills.

The Collingwood contingent moved across the school yard to the year 11 classroom and held a question and answer session.

“The main difference between Gaelic football and AFL is the tackling,” Clarke told the group.

“It took me awhile to get used to the tackling and how to evade your opponent.”

Brown was asked if he had any plans after he finished his career in football.

“It’s important to keep your options open once you finish your time as a professional athlete.  Some of my teammates have businesses they are involved in.  I am currently studying part time at university.”

Senior administrator Con Karavokyris was impressed with the players and their interaction with the students, “I cannot remember a more memorable clinic in my 20 years at this school, where the players acted in a most professional manner when interacting with our students. They are a credit to your club, and I am sure that our students will see it as a highlight in their year.”
