The AFL Coaches Association (AFLCA) is in its eleventh year of operation, supporting AFL coaches around Australia in professional development, education, career transition, workplace negotiations, public relations, talent pipeline development and recognition of achievements. The AFLCA is the collective voice of over 160 AFL coaches and is a vital resource for current coaches, as well as aspiring coaches and those leaving the game. With the continued growth of the AFL and increasing number of coaches in the industry, the AFLCA is now seeking an experienced Career and Professional Development Manager to support AFL Coaches throughout the career lifecycle.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and CEO, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing support and consultation to over 150 AFL Coaches throughout the year.
- Developing in depth knowledge and understanding of suitable career and education pathways.
- Establish relationships with key education and career services providers.
- Thoroughly understanding individual career priorities, goals, needs, and identify gaps.
- Research relevant career and education options specific to the individual.
- Advise on realistic career pathways based on current market trends and employer needs.
- Arrange mentoring programs or work experience opportunities.
- Build trust and respect amongst a broad coaching group through proactive relationship building, networking and engagement.
- Develop career pathway strategies and options for coaches transitioning out of the AFL industry.
- Contribute to a positive, proactive culture in a highly trusted position.
You will possess:
- Strong experience working with elite athletes and an understanding of the AFL system.
- Good knowledge and exposure to career and education pathways for elite athletes.
- Qualifications and/or experience in career counselling is preferred.
- Excellent ability to develop solid relationships and trust with experienced coaches and key stakeholders.
