WHEN Swans ruckman Darren Jolly sits down to watch the tape of his side’s win against St Kilda, there’s every chance he’ll fast forward to a moment deep into the last quarter.

But he won’t be looking for a clever tap to a running rover; rather, it is aerial work of a different kind that made his personal highlight reel against the Saints.

With the game done and dusted by that stage, Jolly soared above St Kilda’s Nick Dal Santo to take a classic hanger in the goal square.

“‘Hally’ obviously kicked it really high and I had no one on me and I thought, ‘Oh well, I’ll have a fly and see what happens’,” Jolly said.

“I think it was Dal Santo in front of me and I happened to get a ride, and hold on to it, which was more important.”

Jolly said he had “taken a couple” of screamers in the past, but Saturday’s night’s grab would require some careful analysis.

“I’ll have to take a look at it 30 times during the week to see how high I got. I don’t think it was very high, though,” he said with a laugh.

On a more serious note, Jolly had praise for his St Kilda opponents Michael Gardiner and Steven King, who shaded the Swans in the ruck.

With Peter Everitt a late withdrawal, he was left to shoulder much of the load at the stoppages.

“[Gardiner and King] were good tonight. They are both really strong players and they pushed around hard. It was a good contest and ‘Lewie’ [Roberts-Thomson] stepped up today for us when Spida was out,” he said.

With five straight wins under the belt, Jolly said the Swans were focussed solely on this Sunday’s game against Melbourne at Manuka Oval before heading to the mid-season break.

On a personal note, the Swans ruckman said he would relish the opportunity to catch up with some of his former teammates.

“I enjoyed playing with Melbourne and because I still keep in touch with a few of them, it’s always good to get out there and niggle a few of them. I can’t wait to get out there next week.”
