Sydney Swans midfielder Jude Bolton says the Swans are preparing for the best of Port Adelaide to arrive at the SCG on Saturday night.

Port have recorded just one win in 2011, but patches of strong form against Adelaide, and just last week against Hawthorn, has the Swans preparing for a much tighter contest than the AFL ladder would suggest.

“We’re expecting an extremely tough game. Port have had a tough start to the year but we just want to get our processes right and make sure we put in a good performance,” Bolton said.

“We’re preparing for their best. They were within six points of Hawthorn at three-quarter time so we know that they’ve got some extremely talented players and they’ve still got a lot of players who played in that premiership in 2007,” he said.

Bolton echoed teammate Craig Bird’s comments from earlier this week, saying the team was eager to re-establish the SCG as a fortress after two early defeats on the ground in 2011.

“We’ve struggled at the SCG this year, but we want to give the fans a good run out there and make it a fortress. We’ve been pretty ordinary in the last two games against Geelong and Carlton.

“I think there’s plenty of improvement (to come). We haven’t got the attacking side of our game going the way we want to, and certainly that comes from the midfielders and our efficiency.”

Bolton, who lines up in his 264th game for the Swans on Saturday night, was finalising his preparation for the clash against Port with an afternoon at the annual Sydney Swans Ladies Lunch, sponsored by QBE.

Bolton’s wife Lynette and mother Rosalie were among more than 550 guests who attended today’s lunch at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“It’s just great to acknowledge the role of women in our game and our great Club, from all of the supporters, players’ partners, parents and all of our football and admin staff. It’s just a great day and always one of the quickest functions to sell-out each year,” Bolton said.

The lunch started on a high with an uplifting performance by dance troupe Justice Crew.

Dan Hannebery, Heath Grundy and Nick Smith all attended the lunch with their mums, while many other players attended with their partners, parents or siblings.

The lunch proved very successful for defender Marty Mattner, whose partner Chelsea won a trip for two to Hamilton Island in the raffle.

While the Sydney Swans Ladies Lunch is over for another year, the Swans female supporter group L@SS (Ladies at Sydney Sydney) runs various events and functions throughout the season.  Click here for more information.
