It was a good win for the Bombers against the Blues, but it was not a pretty match in the 1st and 2nd quarters. It was in the 3rd quarter that the Bombers really got going and put 8 goals on the board. It was Sheedy at his best as he moved players around the ground to find the combination that could produce some goals. McPhee to centre half forward in a best on ground performance was the difference.

Hird had a slow game and was nowhere near his best but he still gathered a number of possessions and kicked 2 important goals. Lloyd was able to take plenty of marks but his accuracy in front of goals was poor finishing with 2 goals and 7 behinds. To win a game with both our stars down is a good sign for the club.

I would think Sheedy would be pleased with the efforts of several young players. Both Lovett-Murray and Dyson again produced some exciting football and kicked 5 goals between them. Alvey came off the bench and picked up plenty of possessions and kicked a nice goal from the boundary.

It is the form of Rama, McPhee and Solomon that is also exciting for the Bombers. All of them played some great football and look set for big seasons. With the return of JJ and MJ in the next few weeks the midfield looks to be gaining strength and speed. A final mention should go to the ruck combination of Hille and Allan, who together form a reliable partnership getting the ball down to the runners.
