Collingwood has made four changes to its 29-man squad ahead of Thursday night's match against Richmond at the Telstra Dome.

Midfielder John McCarthy, who played six games in his debut season last year, and midfielder/defender Alan Toovey head up the list of Magpie inclusions for the round two NAB match against the Tigers.

McCarthy and Toovey will come into the squad along with Tyson Goldsack and Jaxson Barham, who has yet to debut after playing 16 games in the VFL last year.

Anthony Corrie, Sharrod Wellingham, Danny Stanley and Chris Dawes have been omitted.

Toovey managed seven games last year until he suffered a broken foot in round 21 against Sydney.  His natural ability to fill the required hole in defence came to the fore against St Kilda collecting 15 disposals and five marks.

Midfielder McCarthy was a surprise call-up last season in round 19 and held his spot for the remainder of the season.  The 19-year-old performed well in the finals win against Adelaide and will be a strong addition to the midfield.

After playing 16 games last year, Goldsack will look to become a regular in the Magpie defence in his third season at the club.

Steele Sidebottom, Dayne Beams and Brent Macaffer who made up the emergency bench in round one are all in contention to play against Richmond.

The squad includes eight on the bench (two super-subs) and three emergencies.

The team list will be finalised 90 minutes before the start of the game.
