NORTH Melbourne's Sudanese rookie Majak Daw has been racially abused by a spectator during a VFL game for Werribee against Port Melbourne.

Werribee was said to be outraged by the offensive remarks coming from the crowd and the spectator was found and evicted by security at TEAC Oval.

North Melbourne is yet to make an official comment on the incident.

Werribee coach Paul Satterley told the Herald Sun he was "disgusted".

"I would have thought we're more advanced in this day and age than to be verbally abusing players in that manner," Satterley said.

"There's no room in footy for that sort of behaviour."

Daw, 20, is yet to make his AFL debut, however he played for North Melbourne during the NAB Cup.

In round four, Hawthorn's Lance Franklin was also racially abused by a spectator during a game in Tasmania.

Following that game AFL chief Andrew Demetriou said there was no place for racism in the game.

"It should go without saying that there is absolutely no place for racism in our game and the community," Demetriou told afl.com.au.

"The AFL's Racial and Religious Vilification code has played a significant role in changing attitudes on and off the field, but unfortunately there is still the occasional person out there who doesn't get it.

"Fortunately these types of incidents are rare in the modern game but anybody who does engage in this sort of unacceptable and anti-social behaviour can expect to be dealt with harshly."

More to come...
