GREATER Western Sydney has secured the first three picks in the NAB AFL Draft in a deal that will see Melbourne secure highly-touted 17-year-old Jesse Hogan.

The deal, completed in Tuesday, sees GWS receiving picks No.3 and No.13 in the national draft from Melbourne in exchange for selection No.2 in the mini-draft, selection 20 in the national draft and 18-year-old Northern Territory player Dominic Barry.

The Demons have confirmed they will use the mini-draft pick on Hogan, a West Australian key-position prospect. Hogan is from Claremont and excelled in last week's NAB AFL Draft Combine.

At 195cm and 97.4kg, Hogan ran a 20m sprint in 3.02 seconds - regarded as midfield standard - and ran the 3km time-trial in 10m 20s.

He is unable to play AFL football until 2014.

Barry was zoned to GWS under the draft and player concession rules that gave the expansion club access to players from the Northern Territory who will be draft eligible by the time of the 2011, 2012 and 2013 drafts.

Barry is an accurate left-footer with fine evasive skills and excellent pace. He also possesses good endurance.

The 18 year-old produced some outstanding results in the agility, shuttle run and repeat sprints at the NAB AFL Draft Combine.

GWS now has five selections in the first 13 picks in the 2012 national draft after having the first five picks, and 11 of the first 14 picks, in the 2011 draft.

Giants list manager Stephen Silvagni said the club was delighted with the outcome.

"We have a number of young players who have already shown exciting potential, with a record eight NAB AFL Rising Star nominees in 2012," Silvagni said.

"We have already re-signed seven of them to long term contracts as well as a number of other players.

"The addition of more talented young players will take us another step closer to ultimate premiership success."

Melbourne now has pick No.4 and pick No.20 in the first round of the national draft.
