Geilston Bay High School overcame the odds to take out the Tassie Hawks Netball Shield, Southern Regional grand final, beating pre-game favourites Rose Bay High School by 11 points to earn a direct berth into the inaugural Tassie Hawks Netball Shield at Launceston’s Silverdome.
 
With their shooters in outstanding form, Geilston Bay dominated all over the court with their superior passing efficiency and defensive pressure to post a 31 – 20 victory.
 
In front of an excited crowd at Aurora Sports Stadium, Geilston Bay set up the win with a powerful first quarter when they outscored Rose Bay 10 – 6. Geilston Bay kept their lead between 4 and 11 goals for the rest of the match and had solid contributors all over the court.
 
Rose Bay displayed excellent commitment to stay in the contest and never stopped trying. After finishing on top of the ladder they would be disappointed to finish runners up, but they should be congratulated for their perseverance throughout the match.

The victory puts Geilston Bay straight into the inaugural Tassie Hawks Netball Shield Grand Final Day to be played at Launceston’s Silverdome on Tuesday 1 September, 11am.
