Women at Hawthorn hosted another highly successful function on Sunday 27 April during the Hawks v Tigers match at the MCG.

As the masses flocked to the ‘G on a chilly Melbourne afternoon, guests at the WAH match day function remained warm and cosy in the luxurious Grande Suite. Close to 60 enthusiastic women (and a small percentage of men) gathered together to cheer on the Hawks in the round 6 clash against the Tigers.

Special guests included WAH Ambassadors Tanya Croad along with Margo Mitchell and her two daughters. Tim Boyle dropped in for a visit, answering questions about his injury, his introduction to AFL and an insight to his life outside football.

Guests also heard from two prominent Hawthorn women, Janine Allis and Helen Kapalos. Janine, Hawthorn’s only female board member and highly successful business woman being the founder of Boost Juice, shared her thoughts on women within football and how the club is engaging more female supporters.

Helen Kapalos, channel 10 newsreader and adopted Hawthorn fan, gave guests a glimpse into life in the newsroom and also how her passion for the Hawks has grown since moving to Melbourne.

After a tense match the Hawks walked away with the four points and guests to the WAH function walked away with gift bags filled with MBF goodies, L’Oreal lipsticks and delicious chocolates from Ernst Hillier.

Another wonderful WAH function. Keep your eyes on hawthornfc.com.au to find out about the next function. Keep your diaries free on Friday 20 June and watch this space….
