WEST Coast coach John Worsfold says Leigh Colbert has been offered a coaching position at the club and the former Geelong and North Melbourne defender is considering it.
Colbert, who worked part-time for the Eagles last season, met with Worsfold recently when the job offer was put on the table.
"I met with Colbie and had a good chat with him," Worsfold told 6PR.
"Colbie's an outstanding young man and he's really got to decide if he wants to go full-time into football.
"That's what he's weighing up at the moment and I'm confident that if he does decide that football's the way to go that we'll have a great acquisition to the football club."
West Coast's disastrous 2008 campaign claimed its first casualty on Monday when assistant coach Darren Harris was told his services would not be required next year.
Worsfold said he was keen for a major overhaul of the club's coaching ranks following the recent acquisition of Brisbane great Michael Voss for the next two seasons.
"I couldn't just add him (Voss) to the way the current set-up was; I needed to throw him into a specific role and I felt as though the midfield role, working with our young midfield, he's going to have basically a clean sheet to work with," Worsfold said.
"He's got Daniel Kerr there and Matt Priddis already, (Tyson) Stenglein (as well), but some of the kids coming through he can really develop to play a style of play he thinks can be great for them and the team.
"Guys like (Jamie) McNamara, (Brent) Staker, (Chris) Masten and (Brad) Ebert will benefit enormously as young players, young midfielders, working with Michael Voss.
"That really meant a whole restructure of the way things were going to be set-up and looking at it all I think the time was about right for our group to have some fresh voices in there."
Worsfold said the future of assistant coach Tony Micale would be decided at the end of the season, while the club is awaiting a response from former Melbourne coach Neale Daniher about the prospect of heading up the club's football department next season.
