Daniel Motlop’s unlucky injury run has continued, with the versatile forward set to miss the next six to eight weeks with a broken collarbone.
But the Power could be boosted by the return of veteran Michael Wilson from a torn chest muscle.
Motlop broke his collarbone in the opening minute of the Power’s loss to Geelong on Sunday. He dropped a mark, then tried to recover it by winning a contested ball but collided with a Geelong player and instantly left the ground.
Motlop was due a change of luck having had most of last year written off by persistent shoulder problems that eventually forced him into having a reconstruction.
This year he had a sensational pre-season only to badly sprain his ankle in the first half of Round 1 against Fremantle. He spent four weeks on the sidelines.
He returned in Round 6, kicking two goals in each of the next three games. Until Sunday, he had kicked nine goals in just four games.
Wilson has missed the last four weeks since his pectoral injury but has been listed as a ‘test’ on this week’s injury list and could play against Hawthorn on Sunday. Wilson had been in outstanding form through the Power’s first five games, adding plenty of toughness around the ball.
As reported last week, key defender Troy Chaplin had further scans on the foot he injured in Round 6. Despite early scans clearing him of a fracture, an MRI taken on Thursday revealed there is in fact a fracture. He'll miss at least another two weeks.
