Today Spotlight On looks at the progress of Daniel Wells.

Where are you at in your rehabilitation from the groin injury?

I'm running at the moment, I've been running the last week. Just gradually running two sets of five minutes and finishing on the bike, so I'm probably at the half way stage in my recovery.

Are you happy with your progress?

Definitely. I spoke to the surgeon a couple of weeks ago and he just said don't try and push it too much because you're going to get a bit of pain regardless until the six month mark. We are at the three month stage now so just have to make sure I don't push it too much and stick to the plan.

Can you describe the feeling you have when you have a reoccurrence?

It's been pretty terrible really. Everything just locks up in my right side, upper body and hip flexor. I probably ran for about a quarter and a bit and then everything just started locking up, my muscles started shutting down and I couldn't really run after that. If you look back on the tapes you could probably see the exact moment when it started locking up and I couldn't run anymore, but that's over now and I had the surgery to correct that, so just looking ahead.

Are you itching to get back out on the field?

After missing a whole year that made me more excited than ever. I just can't wait to get out and play once I'm nice and fit. Early next year I'll be running out with the boys and having a bit of a kick but at this stage I'm probably not looking too far ahead because there's going to be hiccups there's no doubt and I'm just looking to tick the box day by day.

Has it been frustrating?

Not really to be honest. I've had the surgery to give me confidence that it's not going to happen again so it's really exciting. You can't get too frustrated when you move to a new facility and new kids come in. It's been an awesome place to be around and the energy is different here it's good to come in and get the job done, then go home and see the family.
