Two great friends - Jayde & Ree flew out from Perth in the early hours of Saturday 12th June 2010, arriving in the Melbourne just after 9.00am. After checking into our hotel we headed to the training session held at Wesley College where we watched the team train & had the opportunity to interact with the players & of course snapped awesome photos with some of the team - Mark LeCras (Jayde's favourite player), Josh Kennedy, Matt Priddis and John Worsfold!
Ree's favourite player is Dean Cox and she was desperate to have him sign her #20 guernsey. Having realised he had snuck past us and already boarded the team bus, we asked Suma if he would mind jumping on the bus and passing it onto Coxy to get him to sign it! Suma happily agreed, and Ree was totally ecstatic, especially as Coxy gave her the thumbs up as the bus drove away!
On Sunday we rose early, eager to prepare for the big game against Richmond!
One hour was dedicated to getting ready - this includes putting in blue & yellow hair extensions! Dressed head to toe in WCE gear we made our way to the MCG (a few looks from the locals came our way).
What happened for the next 3 hours is useless history and not worth mentioning EVER again so we will move off that topic (though Lecca's 12 goal performance against Essendon has certainly helped clear the salt Riewoldt had rubbed into our wounds that day). Our moods were soon picked up when we attended the post match function and got to hang out with the players some more, and of course, get more photos! Here Ree thanked Coxy personally for signing her guernsey and he recognised her straight away!
Although the result of the game was not what we had hoped, the players were only too willing to have photos, sign posters & interact with the supporters.
When we finally left the function (After having photos with almost EVERY
PLAYER) - we had forgotten about the result of the game as we were so pumped from having photos & hanging out with the team! They are all such great people - and they really appreciated the support, especially when they realised we were from Perth!
By the time we boarded the plane to come home Sunday night, we had been in Melbourne for only 38 hours! The sole purpose of the trip was for our beloved team - the West Coast Eagles!
We have the memories, photos & great times to remember forever! Since this trip, we have decided to attend a game at each interstate ground over the next few years! We can't wait !
Both of us are IN THE WINGS MEMBERS, and have been waiting for years for a seated membership! Both of us are obsessed as each other, and you only have to know us for a short amount of time to figure this out!
We live & breathe Blue & Yellow & we follow our team through THICK & THIN - and under no circumstances do we leave any game before the final siren - regardless of the scoreboard !
Passionate, Real, True Supporters !
GO WEST COAST!
