Former Hawthorn great and Hall of Fame Inductee David Parkin joined the City Hawks for the recent luncheon on Wednesday 28 July.

Held at the RACV Club Melbourne and proudly presented by Elite Property Care, 200 guests enjoyed a two course lunch, beverages and the ever-entertaining host Jeff Kennett.

David was invited to speak at the lunch to evaluate the potential of each of the top eight teams to win this year’s flag and to talk honestly about what Hawthorn needs to do to succeed.

He provided a very thorough statistical analysis, looking at the teams involved and the premiership numbers, including:
  • High ladder percentage and solid defence
  • Points conceded
  • Inside 50 differentials
  • Percentage of goals inside 50

David went on to give his prognosis for the 2010 season before taking some questions from the audience, such as:

  1. Who are you going to back for the flag?
  2. How can something like Friday night occur (interchange error) given that it was a focus of our Club to improve that area?
  3. How much of the analysis you have just done will be seen by the playing group?
