MELBOURNE key defender James Frawley will have scans on Monday morning after hurting his hamstring late in Sunday's 95-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG.

Frawley fought valiantly in the heavy defeat, restricting Hawks star Lance Franklin to two goals, which both came from free kicks.

But he limped from the ground with only minutes remaining in the match, and a club spokesperson later confirmed to AFL.com.au that he had injured his hamstring.

The 24-year-old now appears in doubt for the Demons' Queen's Birthday clash with Collingwood next Monday.

If he is sidelined, Frawley will join fellow senior Melbourne players Jack Grimes (shoulder) and Mitch Clark (foot) on the sidelines as their young team tries to turn around its poor form.

Co-captain Grimes and key forward Clark are still around five weeks from a return, while first-year father-son recruit Jack Viney (toe) is facing another two to three weeks out.
