All you have to do is head to the Choco Uncut page (you’ll find it under News) between the final siren of the weekend’s game and midday on Monday. Submit your question about the game, then Mark’s answers will appear at PortAdelaideFC.com.au on Tuesday morning.

Our skill level, our ability to run, our decision making, all seem to be due to our lack of confidence and as they say,....an “above the shoulders” problem. How do you overcome this challenge?
Tony Currie

MARK WILLIAMS: Yes, it’s a huge challenge. Sitting 6-1 we felt like we were fully confident and after each loss you tend to lose a little bit. Getting back to the basics is the way to get it all back on track and that’s what we will do.

Why are we playing that chip around possession game when we play so much better when we run and attack? Why do we play so wide
Vincent Rignanese

MARK WILLIAMS: If you acknowledge that we were doing OK after Round 7 then have faith. We found in three of the last four games that we’ve had eight or more goals kicked against us in one quarter and we’ve been trying to stop the flow of those quarters happening. We’ve been trying to do something that the top sides do when the opposition gets a run-on. We haven’t been very successful at it. As a developing side we’re still developing in that area so it’s work in progress. We certainly don’t want to be playing that way and we don’t start off intending to play that way (but) if the game turns against us we’re trying to keep in the game for that period of time until we can turn it around and play how we want to.

Mark when the season started, it seemed vital that we develop one or two midfielders in the mold of Carr, James and Francou. For mine, Adam Thomson seemed like the perfect candidate. How disappointed are you not to have been able to select him so far this season?
Peter

MARK WILLIAMS: Yeah, we picked him exactly for that reason. Unfortunately he’s had a couple of problems with his legs but I see he played really well on the weekend and if he can string a few good games together he’ll put himself up for selection.

The guys don’t seem to be presenting themselves as an option when someone has the ball. This is all over the field, and causes static play, turnovers and wide entry into the 50m. How is their sense of “team” at the moment?
Daryl

MARK WILLIAMS: I know it’s a long bow to draw but if you look at the last two weeks which have both been losses we have gone inside 50 more than the opposition, we’ve had more shots than the opposition, and we’ve marked the ball inside 50m more than the opposition. So you’d think that things are pretty productive but we haven’t kicked goals. We’ve looked at the scoring range, the scoring angles, the scoring distances and the types of shots we took and they were virtually the same as Carlton but they kicked very, very straight. So our (number of) scores from inside 50m is as good as anyone in the competition but our goals aren’t. We’re working very studiously on that. We’d love to be able to play nice flowing football but the opposition are going out of their way to stop it.
