AS A self-confessed member of Kevin Sheedy's "fringe lunatics", Fremantle coach Mark Harvey says he is indebted to his former mentor in many ways.

Harvey spent 22 years with Sheedy at Essendon, as a player and assistant coach, and says he learned a great deal about life outside football at the feet of the master.

In the second installment of a five-part interview with fremantlefc.com.au, Harvey is critical of the manner in which Essendon handled the veteran coach's departure and says Sheedy wants to coach again.

"He would be pushing that 18-team competition more than Andrew Demetriou or Mike Fitzpatrick at the moment," Harvey says.

Harvey talks about the evolution of Sheedy as a coach as well as the evolution of his own relationship with Sheedy.
