MILESTONES
Lions spearhead Daniel Bradshaw is set to become only the Club's 25th player to reach the 200-game milestone when he lines up against Carlton this Saturday night at the Gabba.

Bradshaw was recruited by the Lions from Victorian country club Wodonga with Pick No.56 in the 1995 AFL National Draft and has gone on to become one of the most successful forwards in our Club's history.

Throughout his 13-year career, the 29 year-old dual premiership player has played predominantly as a key forward and is currently ranked 7th in the Club's all-time leading goal-kickers list with a total of 430 goals.

After overcoming a season-ending knee injury in 2007, Bradshaw has kicked a career-best 67 goals so far in 2008 and sits equal third in the competition with Fremantle's Matthew Pavlich behind Hawthorn's Lance Franklin and Carlton's Brendan Fevola for most goals kicked this year.

Daniel Bradshaw's career highlights include:
Lions Best First Year Player 1997
AFL Rising Star Nomination 1997
Equal 5th place, AFL Rising Star Award 1997
Lions Premiership Player 2001, 2003
Lions Leading Goal-Kicker 2005, 2006
Lions Best Forward Award 2006

The Lions have won their past eight home-and-away matches against Carlton after winning only twice in their first eight encounters. The current eight-match winning streak is the Club's greatest ever against the Blues. However, Carlton defeated the Lions in the 2007 NAB Cup Grand Final.

The Lions' 117-point home victory over Carlton in Round 16 at the Gabba last year was the second biggest win of the merged Club's history. It was second only to the team's 141-point win against Adelaide in Round 17 of 2004.

Co-captain Jonathan Brown's ten goal haul against the Blues in their last meeting at the Gabba was the highest by any Brisbane Lions player, bettering team-mate Daniel Bradshaw's nine goals against Melbourne back in 2005. Brad Hardie, who kicked nine goals during a 1989 match, held the Bears' goal kicking record while Jack Moriarty and Bob Merrick each kicked 12 goals playing for Fitzroy in 1928 and 1919 respectively.

Jonathan Brown has polled three Brownlow votes in each of his last three outings against Carlton and was again among the Lions' best players when they met earlier this year at Telstra Dome.

The Club's most recent home-and-away loss against the Blues was back in Round 8 of the 2001 AFL Season at Princes Park: Carlton 21.16 (142) def Brisbane Lions 9.14 (68). This match actually proved to be the positive turning point in the Lions' assault on the premiership that year.

Former Lion Richard Hadley was traded to Carlton during the off-season for Pick No. 52 in the AFL National Draft which netted Bradd Dalziell to the Lions.

Carlton captain Chris Judd and Lions co-captain Simon Black currently lead the competition for contested possessions. Judd is ranked first in the AFL with 207 while Black is a close second with 199.

The Lions have won their past seven matches at the Gabba while the Blues have won two of their three interstate matches so far this season.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Fresh from a Bye Week break for the AFL's Hall of Fame Tribute Match, the Lions made the trip to Melbourne to face a much improved Carlton outfit at Telstra Dome.
The Lions were boosted by the returns of Jonathan Brown, Simon Black and Travis Johnstone to the senior side and each of them made an immediate impact.

Brown kicked three goals, Johnstone kicked a pair and Black was at his explosive best with 12 disposals in a frenetic opening term which saw the Lions kick eight goals to Carlton's two and take a commanding 37-point lead.

The Lions extended their lead to 42 points heading into the main break before completing a 33-point victory.

A week after captaining Victoria in the Hall of Fame showpiece, Brown showed no signs of a niggling quad complaint and continued his impressive form against the Blues with a bag of six goals. Meanwhile, fellow co-captains Luke Power and Black were unstoppable in the midfield with 32 and 28 disposals respectively.

Trade Week recruit Travis Johnstone also vied for honours in his best game for his new Club. The former Melbourne Best & Fairest was exceptional for four quarters and finished with 32 touches, three goals and seven tackles.
