Josh Fraser kicked four goals for Collingwood and was best afield as he dominated across half-forward.
The Magpies trailed by four points at the first change but ran riot thereafter to run out winners 26.17.173 bt West Coast 14.8.92.
West Coast went into the match having beaten Collingwood in their last 10 encounters, but was sent crashing to its eighth straight loss.
The Eagles' horrible run with injury continued as Michael Braun, Dean Kemp and Peter Matera were out of the match by half-time.
The only negative from this game for the Magpies was the hamstring injury in the second quarter to forward Nick Davis, who sparked Collingwood's charge with the opening two goals of that term.
The Magpies finished second-bottom last year but improved their record to 7-5 with the thrashing of the Eagles.
Collingwood kicked nine goals to one in the second term to kill off the game as Davis, Fraser, Anthony Rocca and Jarrod Molloy dominated up forward and Steven McKee took control of the ruck.
Defenders Paul Licuria and Ryan Lonie also impressed.
By half-time, the biggest interest for the Magpie fans was what magic forward Leon Davis would conjure.
Davis, known as "Neon Leon", obliged early in the last term when he took a mark under pressure in the goalsquare after running with the flight of the ball and then kicked a goal.
He also was part of a stunning passage of play in the second term when Nick Davis burst through a pack and handballed to him.
Leon then went for a run and finally handballed to Chris Tarrant, who snapped for a goal.
While it was a night out for Magpies, West Coast suffered its eighth-straight loss and is second-bottom with only two wins.
Co-captain Ben Cousins worked hard in the midfield, while Andrew Williams and youngster Callum Chambers also were not disgraced in a hard game for the Eagles.
