The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Lovell as Senior Coach for the next two seasons.

Lovell brings to Sandringham a wealth of experience at AFL level as a player; he played 121 senior games with Melbourne (1985 – 1995) before playing 43 senior games with the West Coast Eagles (1996 – 1998).

After hanging up the boots, Lovell was appointed as an Assistant Coach at the West Coast Eagles (1999), before moving into the Player Welfare and Development Manager role between 2000 and 2002.  He then became senior coach of the East Perth Football Club (2003 - 04).  Following his two year stint at East Perth, Lovell returned to Victoria to take up the position of Assistant Coach at the Geelong Football Club (2005 - 06).

Lovell replaces Mark Williams at the helm after he accepted a position as Development Coach at MELBOURNEfc.  Williams leaves the Zebras in a great condition after he guided the side to three consecutive premierships between 2004 and 2006.

Sandringham Football Club General Manager John Mennie was thrilled with the signing. “We are very excited about signing a person of the calibre of Andy Lovell as Senior Coach.  Andy has extensive experience in all aspects of coaching, and we believe he will be a great asset to this club as we strive for further success.”

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Williams for all his dedicated work over the last four seasons.  He is a top class individual, and we wish him all the best at his new role with the Melbourne Football Club as their Development Coach.”
