North Melbourne has sought inspiration from United States President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address to send a profound message to its supporters ahead of the 2010 season.

The brainchild of club captain Brent Harvey, the powerful membership video opens with several players including Drew Petrie and Jack Ziebell declaring: ‘At North Melbourne, we ask not what our supporters can do for us, but what we can do for our supporters.’

“Our supporters are the reason we are here and they are the reason we are working so hard to achieve success and I felt it was time we delivered that message directly to them,” Harvey said.

There are two versions of Harvey’s video and they will be used on the club website kangaroos.com.au and played on the scoreboard during home matches at Etihad Stadium.

“Our fans are among the most loyal and passionate in the competition and when they get behind us during games, cheering, shouting and encouraging, it makes a huge difference for all the players.

“We want them to know we can feel their support behind us every time we pull on the jumper, when we are training, playing or in the gym. In return, we promise to put our bodies on the line and provide two hours of non-stop entertainment.”

“It is a very personal message from Brent and the players who live and breathe football in order to entertain, excite and inspire tens of thousands of people right across the country,” North chief executive Eugene Arocca said.
