BRISBANE Lions coach Michael Voss says recalled vice-captain Jed Adcock's leadership will provide a significant boost for his side in Friday night's semi-final against the Western Bulldogs.

Adcock will return with Josh Drummond and Tim Notting and take the place of Jason Roe, Cheynee Stiller and Scott Harding, who has a foot injury.

Drummond (quad) and Adcock (knee) have overcome their respective injuries and Voss was unequivocal they would play, stressing there had been no games at the selection table.

Notting, who has announced he is retiring after this season, is back for his first game since round 20 while Adcock hasn't played since mid-July.

Voss said it was important to get Adcock back into the side.

"He's actually quite fit – he's been running around for quite a while," he said from the MCG on Thursday afternoon.

"He just pulled up sore a couple of weeks back and now he's ready to go, so we've got no concerns with Jed whatsoever.

"He's one of our leaders, and you certainly need your leadership ability out there when the crowd's going to be nice and loud.

"Sometimes there's the kick-mark-handball that you can always measure on the stat sheet, but there's this unquantifiable 'x-factor' that leadership brings, and he gives that to us."

Voss also dismissed concerns surrounding the fitness of captain skipper Jonathan Brown and Brownlow Medallist Simon Black (hamstring).

Brown sustained a severe facial injury in last week's elimination final against Carlton, but Voss said it was just a cut on the eye.

"Jonathon Brown always pulls up with a few bruises – he's never walked off the field without one, I can tell you," Voss said.

"He's got six stitches in his eye. As far as I'm concerned, he's right.

"There was an early element that he may have done some damage to himself, and quite bad damage, but if he does hurt himself, I can guarantee you it'll be a completely new injury."

Soon after arriving in Melbourne, the Lions had the lightest of sessions at the 'G: so light it was impossible to tell who was or wasn't moving well.

Brown, Black and Drummond started away from the main group, although they did the same stretches.
