Up to four Port Adelaide players could pull on a Power guernsey for the first time on Friday night in the NAB Cup opener against the Crows at AAMI Stadium.
Former Richmond player and internal trial star David Rodan, No. 5 draft pick Travis Boak, and fellow new draftees Nathan Krakouer and Justin Westhoff have been named in the 28-man squad.
The Power will have 24 players line-up in the match, although the final 24 isn’t required to be named until 30 minutes before the bounce.
The strong-looking 28-man squad named on Wednesday afternoon includes the likes of Peter Burgoyne, Daniel Motlop, Michael Wilson, Michael Pettigrew, Dean Brogan, and Nathan Lonie, who all spent significant time out of the Power side in 2006 with injury.
Notable absentees are Warren Tredrea (knee, modified training), Toby Thurstans (ankle), Matt Thomas (appendix), and Jacob Surjan (split webbing in his hand).
For Rodan, a birth on Friday night’s team would be a fitting reward for his superb pre-season and outstanding showing in last Friday’s internal trial when he kicked three goals from the midfield.
Boak, an 18-year-old classy midfielder from Geelong Falcons, also has shown good touch in his first few months in AFL surroundings.
The winner of Friday night’s match will continue its NAB Cup campaign against Geelong or Richmond in Darwin, while the loser will play trial games in Mount Gambier and Alice Springs in the following two weeks.
Channel 10 have confirmed they will be showing Friday night's game from 8pm into Adelaide.
