While West Coast's much-anticipated opening round clash with the Brisbane Lions will still be two days away, Glass is just as excited to see former teammates Chris Judd and Ben Cousins representing their new teams in the Carlton versus Richmond clash.
Glass admitted it would be odd watching the two men who preceded him as West Coast skipper go head to head in foreign colours.
"I wish Ben all the best. It was great to see him out there and playing. It will be very interesting to watch him taking on Chris Judd in round one. I'll certainly be glued to the TV that night," he said.
Glass said he only wished the best for Cousins but admitted it would be difficult coming up against him when the Eagles take on the Tigers in round 12.
"It will be strange playing against him but footy evolves and time keeps moving on."
The Eagles struggled last year – their first season without the two Brownlow medallists.
Glass says West Coast now feels like a completely different team to the one that won the premiership in 2006.
"It's a new side. Things change and evolve. We feel like we're our own side with our own identity. We're not trying to emulate any [teams] that have gone before us," he said.
Speaking after the release of a survey that revealed no other club captain had picked West Coast for a finals finish this year, Glass said he was not fussed by outsiders' low expectations.
"That's their opinion. We aren't motivated by external forces. We know what we want to achieve and where we're at. We're more focused on ourselves than other clubs."
