The St Kilda Football Club today announced that Scott Watters will be the new senior coach following a throrough, four week selection program.
Scott Watters will take on the senior coaching job at the Saints following an outstanding career in AFL including Assistant Coach of an AFL Premiership side, Coach of successful WA State Team, Coach of two time Premiership WAFL side and 109 AFL games from 1989-1996.
The Selection Panel consisted of CEO Michael Nettlefold, Head of Football Chris Pelchen, Director and past-player Nathan Burke and NSW Institute of Sport Manager Coaching, Athlete and Program Services Clare Prideaux.
A specialist advisory group assisted and included former AFL player Brad Johnson, Director and Managing Director of Coles Ian McLeod, Director and past-player Andrew Thompson and Bluestone Edge consultancy.
The President of the St Kilda Football Club, Greg Westaway said the appointment heralded a new beginning for the Saints.
“The Club has been through an extensive process and we are delighted to announce that Scott Watters has been selected as senior coach.”

Chief Executive, Michael Nettlefold said the calibre of the candidates meant that the decision was a tight one.
“This is an exciting appointment for the Club and we’re all really looking forward to working with Scott,” said Michael Nettlefold.
“Scott has had great experience at the AFL level, worked in a strong system, and has been successful in his own right at Subiaco.”
The new coach of the St Kilda Football Club, Scott Watters said he had admired the St Kilda playing group from afar for a long period of time.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be appointed Senior Coach at the St Kilda Football Club.”
“I have certainly admired the playing group from afar. This is a Club with great tradition, great spirit and I can’t wait to get involved.”
Scott Watters met with the executive and the leadership group earlier today and will commence with the St Kilda Football Club on Monday, 17 October 2011.
