SUMMARY
The Hawks were okay last week against Adelaide, jumping out to a nice lead early before the Crows gained some momentum with the assistance of a parochial home crowd. Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson lamented crucial skill errors that led to easy opposition goals, something they'll be focused on improving this week.

The Demons, minus several injured key players, were gallant against the Sydney Swans and had their chances to win the game. Key defender James Frawley may return this week, and his presence could be crucial against the Hawks' potent forward line.

Melbourne would have been happy with the performance of its midfield, particularly first-gamer Luke Tapscott. They'll need a repeat effort to match the 2008 premiers' strong engine room.

Adding interest to the clash is that Hawks recruit Cameron Bruce will come up against the club he represented in 224 games before leaving at the end of last season.

QUESTION MARKS
How will Melbourne contain Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead and ruck/forward David Hale, particularly if James Frawley doesn't come up? Colin Garland did a good job on Adam Goodes last week, but he can't mind all three big men by himself. His All Australian teammate would be a very welcome addition to the line-up.

What influence will Luke Hodge have? The new Hawks captain is expected to take his place this week and will provide a huge lift, provided his troublesome Achilles can withstand a full game of AFL footy.

How will Melbourne use Ricky Petterd? The forward was perhaps the opening round's most effective sub, giving the Demons a target in the last quarter when he came on. But his influence could have been even greater had he been around to support Liam Jurrah in front of goal for the entire game.

PREDICTION:
Hawthorn by seven points.

TOYOTA AFL DREAM TEAM WATCH
Lots of hype around young Demon Jack Grimes in the pre-season and he didn't disappoint against the Swans, racking up 104 points for the 55,000 coaches that selected him.

We know Dr Dream Team doesn't recommend trading this week unless you've copped a long-term injury, but if you're really itching to give your backline an injection of class, Grimes is the man.
