Michael Ferry, couldn’t believe it was true when he received the call from the Club. "My mates are always playing tricks on me. Until I checked the ticket number I honestly didn’t believe I had won."
Mick bought four tickets in the raffle when he was doing some grocery shopping at the local shops. "I remember talking to the girl selling the tickets and thinking imagine if I won."
Mick, who does seasonal irrigation work on the Vineyards near his home town, said his current car, a 1985 Ford XF, was well and truly due to be upgraded. In fact, the wonky passenger door stopped opening altogether the same day Mick found out he had won a new car. Mick’s girlfriend, Annison, is pleased she won’t have to clamber across the front seat anymore.
In addition to the new car, Mick and Annison were presented with a bottle of French Champagne from Robert Barber at Bilia Volvo in Hawthorn who issued them with the keys to the Volvo. No doubt, Mick and Annison will enjoy the journey back to Red Cliffs in the luxury of their new air conditioned Volvo a lot more than the bus ride down!
