MELBOURNE could have its greatest representation in an All-Australian team, if Brad Green, James Frawley and Mark Jamar are named in this year’s side on Monday night.

The Demons haven’t had more than two players in one All-Australian side, since the concept was revamped in 1991.

From 1993-95 and in 2002, Melbourne had two players in each All-Australian team.

Garry Lyon and Jim Stynes were named in 1993, Stephen Tingay and Lyon (1994), Lyon and David Neitz (1995) and Adem Yze and Neitz (2002).

Stynes (1991), Todd Viney (1998), Jeff Farmer (2000), Jeff White (2004) and James McDonald (2006) are the only other Melbourne All-Australians from the 19 sides.

But in the 20th All-Australian team, the Demons could have their best chance, with Green, Frawley and Jamar realistic to make the final team.

Green was Melbourne’s best player in 2010, winning the Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Trophy. His versatility could see him gain a place on the wing, half forward flank or forward pocket.

Although Fremantle’s Aaron Sandilands appears a certainty for the No.1 ruck berth, Jamar has been widely regarded as the competition’s second best this year, although Swan Shane Mumford is also a genuine contender.

Jamar appears likely for a position on the interchange.

Frawley could claim a key defensive post - full-back or centre half-back - but is equally capable of a back pocket or half-back flank.

His ability to stymie the likes of key forwards Jack Riewoldt, Jonathan Brown and Matthew Pavlich this year will help his cause. He has also played on smaller types in 2010.
