West Coast welcomed 400 Captain’s Club members to the Gold Luncheon last Sunday, with members enjoying a two-course meal and guest speakers before the Port Adelaide match.

AFL Hall of Fame legend Peter Daicos was the guest of honour at the event, with the former Collingwood star treating members to personal memories of his playing days.

Members were able to hear intimate details of Daicos’s football career and learn the origins of the infamous banana kick that has become a staple of modern football.

Moving to life after football, Daicos then spoke about his most recent exploits as a junior football coach.

Star recruit Andrew Gaff and defender Brett Jones also joined the luncheon, with Gaff speaking about his mother’s tearful reaction to him moving across the country.

Brett Jones then gave members insight into his recovery from injury and his push to return to the West Coast senior side.

The afternoon finished with a raffle draw, with winners taking home items including the Josh Kennedy 10-goal haul memorabilia piece.

The bonus raffle prize, a 33cc petrol grass trimmer donated by principal membership partner Stratco, was the most popular item on offer.

Thank you to all of the Captain’s Club members who attended. Bookings are still available for the Platinum luncheon; to secure your spot now, contact the Membership Services Centre on (08) 9388 4566.
