Four straight losses have seen pressure mount on the coach and his team, with Saturday’s loss to last-placed Richmond the low-point of the season so far.
Long-term ankle injuries to Sam Butler and Jordan Jones mean there are three senior list spots vacant and Worsfold said selection pressure would now come from the club’s rookie list.
“Adam Cockie’s pushing up, Callum Wilson’s in good form, (Andrew) Strijk’s going well and (Ashton) Hams is going well,” the coach said from Subiaco Oval on Tuesday.
“We’ve got the ability now to have a look at the guys that we think we might want to play.
“We think we’ve drafted some good talented young kids over the last three to four years and we’re keen to give them the opportunity to play.
“We’ve got some other players that have got to show that they want to be a part of that team going forward.”
Worsfold said her was reasonably confident Adam Selwood (AC joint) would recover in time to face the Western Bulldogs on Sunday, while Darren Glass (abdomen) faces a fitness test.
“If he can’t play this week then he’s going to have a more extended period of rest,” Worsfold said of Glass.
“He’s going to be going flat-out this week and if he says, ‘I don’t think I can get to the level I need to’, then we’ll reassess where his program’s at.”
Tom Swift was in hospital earlier this week with an unknown illness, but he has not been ruled out this week.
Draftee Koby Stevens is another youngster who could come into the team, with Worsfold indicating his debut was imminent after a best on ground performance for East Fremantle.
“He had a really good game on the weekend and he’s been in really good form all year,” the coach said.
“It’s obviously a really big step up for him, and I’ve got no doubt he’ll perform well, but we don’t want him to crash after that effort.
“Whether we play him this week or wait [until after the break], we’ll work through that today.”
Speedy wingman Tim Houlihan had 26 possessions for East Fremantle, but having just returned from a foot injury sustained during the pre-season, Worsfold said he would need time in the WAFL.
Ash Hansen booted five goals for WAFL side Swan Districts, but Worsfold said the in-form forward was battling soreness.
