We have a massive game for the club against West Coast on Saturday night, so it was great to be able to go and chill out up on the Sunny Coast last weekend.
We headed up to Sunshine Beach and even took the dog with us.
His name is Harvey and while he’s just a pup, he is just like the dog from out of the movie ‘Turner and Hooch’.
For those of you who haven’t seen the flick, it stars Tom Hanks as a low key cop in a small town and he sort of inherits this dog that slobbers everywhere and eats his furniture.
The good news is that Harvey is nothing like that. He is very disciplined, thanks to his days at puppy school.
We got up to Noosa for a swim one day, but I also managed to give Harvey some quiet time by going out and getting some golf lessons.
I’m trying to give myself a bit of a more relaxing year in 2008 after all the running around I was doing with the men’s day spa over the last couple of years.
I’ve been trying to find a hobby and figured golf is as good as anything.
I spent some time at the Peregian Springs golf course with the pro there Wayne Rosstrum, and he was a gun.
I want to have a hit for a bit of fun, but I’m sure I will be happier if I’m hitting the ball properly rather than spraying it everywhere.
The weekend up the coast also gave Luke (Power) and I the chance to catch up with former Brisbane Broncos great Willie Carne.
We’ve become good mates in recent times and Willie has just welcomed his son Willie Junior into the world.
Willie was a happy man all round because he has been a big supporter of Big Bob Abbott for mayor of the new Sunshine Coast super council. Big Bob blitzed it in the election.
We hope to take a leaf out of Big Bob’s book and ambush the Eagles in Perth on Saturday night.
The win against the Swans in our last practice match came at a good time – we were itching for a win and it has given us a bit of confidence going into this week.
You never quite know what the new season is going to bring, but it’s going to be an exciting ride through the first month and hopefully beyond.
