West Coast Eagles skipper and vice-captain Darren Glass and Beau Waters paid a very special visit to children in hospital last Friday.

In the lead up to Sunday’s match against Port Adelaide, which was the club’s annual Dig Deep Day for the Cancer Council WA, Glass and Waters spent Friday afternoon visiting children in Princess Margaret Hospital who are battling cancer.

Armed with West Coast Eagles goodie bags for the brave youngsters, Glass and Waters hopped from room to room spending time with the kids having a chat, taking photos and signing posters and footy jumpers.

For young patient and West Coast Eagles fan Cole Lane, it was a dream come true.

“I can’t believe Darren Glass and Beau Waters are in my hospital room,” Cole said.
Both players agreed that the visit pulled on the heartstrings.

Waters, who is the official West Coast Eagles Cancer Council WA ambassador, said the kids he meets in hospital are the most courageous.

“They’ve all got such big personalities, they’re smiling and laughing, I actually end up getting some of their energy, which is an ironic situation really,” Waters said.
