A selection of Queensland’s football future was on parade last night at the 2007 Brisbane Juniors Gala Awards night at Kedron Wavell Services Club.

The evening celebrated some of Brisbane’s finest young talents, culminating in the awarding of the best and fairest player for each junior division. Like the AFL’s Brownlow Medal, votes were awarded by the umpires of each match.

Former Lions star Richard Champion hosted the event while Lions mascot Bernie ‘Gabba’ Vegas was also on hand to provide his usual entertainment.

The night was a resounding success and provided further evidence of the strong development of AFL among juniors in Queensland. Who knows, some of the winners from last night might one day be gracing the Gabba in their maroon, blue and gold Guernseys in the not-too-distant future.

The Vodafone Brisbane Lions would like to congratulate all award winners for their fine efforts throughout the 2007 junior season.
