FOR A moment, Brisbane Lions forward Jonathan Brown knew just how it felt to be a hated man at his beloved Gabba.
Certainly the handful of fans who attended Lions training on Wednesday at their home ground looked twice when their hero ran out in a Victorian jumper.
If Brown was worried about being booed on his own turf, he hid it well.
The Lions co-captain was all smiles when he unveiled the `big V' guernsey to be worn by Victoria in the AFL's Hall of Fame tribute match at the MCG on May 10 against a Dream Team boasting players from the rest of the nation.
Brown will captain Victoria in a game that will also celebrate the "state of origin" rivalry in Australian football's 150th year.
Adelaide's Andrew McLeod is the Dream Team skipper.
"As a kid growing up it was a big thing playing for the `big V', even more so for the importance of the (Hall of Fame) game," said Brown, who is from Warrnambool in regional Victoria.
He even dared to dabble in a bit of trash talk against a Dream Team that no doubt will boast Queenslanders, responding to McLeod's jibe earlier in the day that Victorians were arrogant.
"We (Victoria) always think they (South Australians) think a bit strangely about their football," he said.
"Us Victorians think we have a bit more common sense about our footy - that will give you a headline.
"But honestly it will be great fun. I can't wait to get into it."
The game will follow this year's Hall of Fame inductions on May 8.
The Dream Team will be coached by Port Adelaide's Mark Williams with Neale Daniher as his assistant, while Geelong premiership mentor Mark Thompson will hold Victoria's reins with the legendary Kevin Sheedy assisting.
Brown and McLeod are the only confirmed players for the historic interstate clash.
Both the Dream Team and Victorian squads are tipped to be finalised after AFL's round seven in early May.
