Ottens_rulez: Hi Brad... what happened on Friday night? I was at the game and I have seen the reply. It still doesn’t make sense to me. What went wrong?
Brad Ottens: A mixture of us playing badly and Collingwood playing well- a very disappointing match.

ottosgirl5: How is your back?
Brad Ottens: Going pretty well at the moment.

NikkiSixx: Do you think you should have come back through the VFL?
Brad Ottens: I guess that was always an option but it didn't work out that way. We'll go well if we play the sort of footy that we're trying to and improve the way we're using the footy.

ottens_fan: Hey Ottens I love it when you leap in the goal square and take a speckie. Can you take one for me on Saturday night please?
Brad Ottens: Yeah, I'll try my hardest!

PetersWeb: Can you take us through what you did today? Did you go through a review of the Collingwood game or have you just focussed on the Western Bulldogs game?
Brad Ottens: We went through that game Saturday morning and this morning we concentrated on playing the Bulldogs on the weekend.

Barry: Do you think the eight-game losing streak has sapped the team of all confidence?
Brad Ottens: I guess it would have left a lot of guys disappointed but the only way to get out of that is with a win.

Ottens_4_President: Are you expecting to line up on Luke Darcy?
Brad Ottens: Yes, probably and a little bit of time up forward as well.

PetersWeb: I noticed on Friday that you weren't getting too high off the ground at centre bounces. Are you carrying an injury that prevents you from jumping higher or was that your tactic?
Brad Ottens: No, it's just the way it was working out.

Kenny_Rogers: Do you think there are other more suitable candidates as captain to Matthew Richardson and has anything been said at the club about comments in the media about Richo not being best suited as captain?
Brad Ottens: No, I'm not sure what's being said in the media - he's the next senior player to Campbell and he's captained before. He's the obvious person for the job at the moment.

Ottens_4_President: Do you work with Rodan and Krakouer on tactics for inside 50 throw-ins?
Brad Ottens: Yeah, we try and do a bit together, work out tactics here and there.

PetersWeb: I'm sure that Danny is aware of the criticism that's been thrown at him. How is he coping with it and do you think it's affecting the way that he's coaching?
Brad Ottens: I think he's coping well. It's never an easy time for anyone. I don't think it's affecting his coaching. He has the support of all the players and we will work on it as a group.

ottens_fan: I went and watched you at the GABBA the time you played and I think that’s one of the best games you played back from injuries. You took a lot of good marks and kicks a couple times and I think that you have improved from then on in. What are you tips on how to kick further?
Brad Ottens: Try not to kick it too hard and work on the timing.

NikkiSixx: When is the coaching staff going to bite the bullet and play Marty McGrath? Its obvious he is going to put on any more weight, and his speed is need!
Brad Ottens: I think he played well on the weekend so he shouldn't be much further away!

Att: Is Wayne spending much time at the club at the moment or not due to his injury?
Brad Ottens: He was there today, so I think he will be back at the club from now on.

Madtiger: Otto, in the three close loses we've had, on paper, the Richmond team as been much stronger than the opposition, but still hasn’t been able to win. Why do you think that is?
Brad Ottens: I think the team hasn't been playing to the standard we'd like. We're not using the footy as well as we should be.

ottens_fan: Will Johnson and Cameron be ready for sat nights game?
Brad Ottens: Yes, I think they'll both be right.

cat05: Where do you prefer to play? In the forward line or in the ruck?
Brad Ottens: Probably in the ruck at the moment.

Darb: How has Jay Schultz been developing, he seems to be getting votes in the VFL each week. Do you do a lot of training together?
Brad Ottens: Yes, we train together a bit - he's not far away considering his form, he's improving well.

ottens_fan: Will Campbell play before Round 22.
Brad Ottens: No, he'll be playing Round 1 of next year probably.

Barry: Do you think Richmond players need a bit more mongrel in them, eg.Tim Fleming?
Brad Ottens: Yes, its probably one thing we're lacking - other teams seem to have that.

PetersWeb: Brad, is there a sense of urgency in the group to turn around this form? Looking at Friday night's game in isolation there appeared to be three or four players who just weren't committed. Is this being addressed?
Brad Ottens: Yes, obviously we're trying to turn it around. No one likes to be going through this so we're definitely working on it.

Ottens_4_President: When will Ray Hall return? He is quick for a big man and what do you think of him playing a key forward role?
Brad Ottens: Hopefully this week or next week and he's probably suited towards playing in defence.

ottosgirl5: How long do you want to play for Richmond for, are there any ambitions to go back to your home state and play.
Brad Ottens: No, I'm happy at the moment in Melbourne playing for Richmond so hopefully for as long as possible.

Kenny_Rogers: Who is the best team you have played against this year and why?
Brad Ottens: I didn't play in the game but I think Port Adelaide - just the way they used the footy made them a pretty tough side to beat.

Madtiger: Who do you think will win the Best & Fairest this year?
Brad Ottens: Mark Coughlan or Kane Johnson probably. Both have been playing really well.

mem37849: How do you feel about team mates who don't seem to put in every week?
Brad Ottens: I don't think there's any that wouldn't be putting in every week. There's probably a handful that are playing well and a handful that aren't playing as well as they'd like to be.

Ottens_4_President: Brad, the ladies love you, will you consider growing a mullet?
Brad Ottens: No, not at all - I think I almost had one. Jason Gillespie showed it's not the best option going around.

Moz: After Friday night, what are you working on in particular?
Brad Ottens: We made a lot of skill errors, so we need to improve in that area I guess.

Ottens_rulez: Do you think that one of the team's main problems on Friday night was that we were attacking the Collingwood players and not the ball enough? Hence the free kicks against us?
Brad Ottens: No, I think it was the skill errors that cost us mostly.

Darb: How has Stewart Lowe helped you this year? The ruck has improved even if the collection at ground level hasn't!
Brad Ottens: He's been great - he's had a lot of experience and gave us lots of tips.

Barry: In the midst of a losing streak does everything seem that much harder individually?
Brad Ottens: It's a pretty frustrating time but the only way to get through it is as a group. The only way to get out of it is to get a win.

NikkiSixx: What is your brother Luke up to? Is he still playing football or have injuries got the better of him.
Brad Ottens: No, he's not playing this year. He's returned to Adelaide to run a business.

cat05: Who do you think will be in the Grand Final?
Brad Ottens: Port Adelaide and West Coast.

ottosgirl5: Who do you think is the toughest player in the AFL?
Brad Ottens: Michael Voss.

Barry: What do you believe is the missing link in the goal-scoring puzzle?
Brad Ottens: I guess, like I said before, our skill level's not up to scratch as a group. That's one area we need to improve on.
Brad Ottens: Thanks for all of your support and stick with us, we'll try to turn things around this weekend.
