SYDNEY Swans full-forward Barry Hall still has one fitness test to pass before he lines up in the goal square against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Saturday night.

Speaking ahead of the round three clash in Brisbane on Friday afternoon, Swans assistant coach John Longmire said Hall, struggling with a groin injury this week, got through Thursday night's training and was now one step away from confirming his spot.

Longmire said Hall was an 80 per cent chance of playing.

''He ran last night, did what he had to do and the medical boys will look at him again tomorrow (Saturday) and hopefully he gets the all clear to play,'' he said.

''He only ran three or four laps and ran some strides last night and got through okay with that, so the medical boys just wanted to wait til tomorrow and see how he pulls up.''

Lions coach Michael Voss said he was planning for Hall to take the field.

''You can't afford not to plan for someone like that not to play then all of a sudden he pops up. I'd much rather be surprised by the fact he doesn't turn up rather than be surprised by the fact he does,'' he said.

Swans small forward Ryan O'Keefe paid the Lions the ultimate compliment ahead of the pair's clash, saying the Sydneysiders had modelled their game on the three-time premiers' style.

And he said despite some critics labelling last week's win over Hawthorn as tainted given the long Hawks injury list, the Swans had taken plenty of confidence from the performance.

''Amongst ourselves we know we did a really good job last week and we were missing some key players as well, so it was a really good win from us,'' he said.

''We know the way we play and that's how we'll play every week and we've probably based our game on Brisbane.

''That's how we developed, they were the benchmark and that's how we've set ourselves over the years.

''They're a great side and they have some really good inside players and they're going to test ours as well.''
